Multi-cultural Cooking

25 Jan 2017

Our Food Technology teacher, chef Chris Kopp, has been very busy working with pupils from all areas of the school to provide special food as part of our multi-cultural celebrations.

Before Christmas we had our special Diwali meal where pupils from Sherwood, Thoresby and Sconce prepared an amazing meal of chicken dhansak and vegetable curries with all the traditional accompaniments. The pupils had even toasted and ground the spices themselves. It was served and eaten in the traditional Indian way and was a wonderful insight into the Indian culture. We are now looking forward to our haggis, neeps and tatties, with cranachan dessert for Burns Night, accompanied by bagpipes and a bit of Rabbie Burns!

Our Chinese New Year celebrations will begin with a special meal of sweet and sour chicken, char su pork and vegetable chow mien, spring rolls and prawn crackers. Delicious!
