Our Senior Pupil
10 Mar 2019
Eleven years ago the Principal Mrs Terri Westmoreland worked with an outreach pupil in Leicester. He had been described as their most difficult child. Through hard work and patience Terri forged a bond with this child and although she never managed to get him to put pen to paper, she kept in touch telling him she would be there for him when he was ready to learn.
In December 2014 he asked her to teach him to read and write on his 17th birthday. True to her word she went to Leicester and helped him through the reading scheme Toe by Toe. To cut a very long story short, after he had finished the reading scheme he took 5 GCSEs and passed them all with A in English. He has since been supported through the school to study 3 A levels in Sociology, Psychology and Law. He takes these examinations this summer. But the best is yet to come. He has been offered a place at Cambridge University.
We all wish him the best of luck with his exams and look forward to seeing him move down the country to attend one of the most prestigious universitys in the world.
